The former Rally of Great Britain winner and ex Austin Rover Motorsport director is today a respected rallying journalist and author of several books on rallying.
He was co-driver for Ford, Lancia, Saab, Porsche, Renault Alpine, BMW, Fiat, Peugeot and VW driving with Ove Andersson, Hannu Mikkola, Timo Mäkinen, Markku Alén, Achim Warmbold, Tony Fall, Pentti Airikkala, Harry Kallström, Sandro Munari and Rauno Aaltonen. He has competed in all the major rallies, won all the British internationals including the RAC Rally, won the Portuguese Rally twice, was second in Monte Carlo, and first in the 1000 Lakes, the Spanish Rally and Italian Rally. He won the Manx Rally, Britain's only pace note event, three times with different drivers.

A true motor sport enthusiast, between 1993 and 1997, he ran and co-ordinated
the Classic Touring Car series in Britain which ran alongside the British Touring
Car Championship.
He has recently published major books on Safari Rally, Group B cars and the Audi Quattro together with famous rally photographer, Reinhard Klein.
John was taken with the enthusiasm of the Club LanciaSport team "My years with Lancia Squadra Corse were some of the best of my life. Working with Italians to win rallies was something that a keen young Englishman found very much to his liking." He looks forward to meeting Lancia fans at Rallyday at Castle Combe September 19th where he will be on the track in a Lancia.
